In which online MBA programs do you teach?
Which classes do you teach online?
FINC 6352 and FINC 6367
What types of projects can students expect in your online courses?
I ask students to get real-life data and then use it to apply the formulas/concepts taught in the class. Projects do require calculations, so students have to use Excel.
What should students take away from your classes? What do they learn?
Students understand the connection between real-life companies/markets and important concepts. Additionally, most of the students learn one or two advanced Excel tools in my classes.
What advice would you give to those considering an online MBA program?
Be ready to work hard. Just because it is online doesn't mean that it is easy. We expect the same level of involvement from all our students.
What is the value of an MBA? What are some of the skills students gain in this program?
An MBA is becoming a requirement for getting managerial jobs. More and more companies won't consider candidates without an advanced degree, so it is a valuable credential that helps one climb the corporate ladder. One key skill our students get is a broader vision of business. Students learn how different departments work and how their efforts must be integrated into a corporate strategy that helps the company achieve its mission.
