Admission Requirements:

  • GPA of 2.0 or higher

Students interested in the B.A. in Communication program must meet the following requirements for admission.

  • Submit undergraduate application and $25 application fee
  • Cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher
  • Freshmen: SAT score of 940 or higher or ACT score of 18 or higher
  • TSI (Texas Success Initiative Assessment) Test Scores are required; unless you qualify for a waiver; please click here for additional information. Waiver Decision will be rendered after receipt of all required documents.
  • Transfer students (12 or more credit hours from other institutions): official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended. Students may transfer up to 90 credit hours.

English Proficiency Requirement

All students attending the University of Houston-Victoria must be proficient in the use of English. Regardless of immigration status, students whose educational instruction has not been in the English language and/or whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency. International Transcript Evaluation

For those applying with international transcripts, a full evaluation by an approved agency is required, which can take up to eight weeks. To earn the B.A. in Communication online, students must complete a total of 120 semester credit hours. Courses include: Freshman Seminar (3 credit hours), University Core Curriculum (42 credit hours), Bachelor of Arts Program Requirements (10 credit hours), Communication Program Requirements (12 credit hours), Upper Division General Requirements (18 credit hours), and Upper Division Communication Electives (12 credit hours), plus any other electives needed to equal 120 credit hours.

This course is waived for transfer students with 30 credit hours or who have taken a similar course from another accredited institution.

This course will provide an academic context for: (1) the understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of a college education; (2) study and life skills necessary for academic success; and, (3) opportunities for connection with peers, faculty and the institution. This course is required for freshmen students in all majors and any student entering the university with less than 30 SCH.
